To be fair - I can’t comment on their work, only my initial experience. This appears to be a franchise model with a call center. The individual I spoke to claimed to be in St Paul, but clearly didn’t know the area. We had a hard time communicating about the basics of my location. Once we got to the project, I was told Top Rail was not able to provide an estimate as my repair didn’t meet the 40’ minimum for a discussion about an estimate. No other questions were asked about the nature of the work being done. Disappointing as I wasn’t given an opportunity to talk to anyone local about the actual work I’m hoping to have done and was very one dimensional in only asking about the length of my existing fence. Update from 10/25: Joel followed up with me following my initial review and experience. He was very professional, and scheduled an estimate right away. While I didn't choose to go with Top Rail primarily due to the nature of my project, they went out of their way to make sure I received an excellent experience...including the on-site estimator, Howard.

Highly recommend Top Rail Fence. Installers were very professional and did a great job. They even came back out the next day to make sure we were happy with the job.

Very professional company. When asked for a estimate no up and down numbers straight to the estimate and what they can do for you and what you can expect from them. Took their time during installation and made sure it was right the first time. I personally saw the crew double measure each line, each post and go over everything more than once. They made sure they didn’t waste your time doing it incorrectly or theirs having to do it again. Rare to find actual people who care as if they were the homeowner themselves. Can’t say enough about the job well done. If you’re looking for a fence go with Top Rail MN.

Howard and his crew did an amazing job. They started and finished the fence installation before the estimated start date for the project. Everyone on the project was knowledgeable, worked hard, and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend Top Rail Fence for your fence installation.

Crew were all respectful, accommodating, punctual, experienced, hard working and pleasant to work with. This all worked extremely well together to make a difficult job in extreme weather go smoothly and completed in a timely manner. I highly recommend this crew!!

Top Rail St. Paul installed our black chain link fence. The process was great and detail to plan the layout appropriately was exactly what we were looking for. We got a few quotes and Top Rail wasn’t the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive either. We chose them because their warranty was better than the competition and Howard’s explanation of how they operate and install gave us confidence in the installation. The fence was finished on a Saturday because of weather but there was a large gap on one part due to our grade that our dog could fit under. Howard came out the next day (Sunday) to do a final review and fixed the gap so the fence would work as intended. Definitely recommend working with Top Rail St. Paul.

So, I didn't end up doing work with Top Rail Fence St Paul, BUT I would have. I have a small job, and given their demand, it didn't work out. I have no issues with how they have to prioritize their job orders. JOEL in their intake office - the one who listens to your need and discusses the project and can help work the calendar - is EXCEPTIONAL. Very clear. Promised to call me back (AND DID) when he was researching options for me. He sits the standard for customer service. Nice work. Worthy of 5 stars.

Fantastic from beginning to end, I can't say enough as to how happy I am with the service. The installers Mitch and Rob were awesome and very professional and detailed in their work to make the new fence look great. My rep Howard was always prompt in communicating and getting the everything done in a timely manner.

I'm glad we went with Howard and his crew! Of the contractors I contacted, they were the most attentive and the price was 100% reasonable. Top Rail was very personable and I'm glad they were able to fit us into their schedule. Our project was small, and that can be super hard to get a contractor to agree to a smaller project. It was a challenge with getting other companies to even check it out because we weren't getting a huge custom fence. We just needed several railings put at our front and back concrete steps for safety, at the request of our home insurance. Luckily this project wasn't given a strict deadline by our insurance, but Top Rail still fit us in almost immediately. The crew got our railings done in cold weather and they got it done quickly. Howard was communicative and patient. You guys rock, thank you so much for your help!

Top Rail built an awesome fence for my dog. It is a black chain link fence and has given Ellie a lot f space to run. She has been running fast and enjoys it. The Top Rail crew did a top rate job of constructing a cedar fence and gate around my back yard. They worked in the rain to finish the project. Kudos to Charles, Jim and the rest of the crew.

Had an excellent experience with Charles and Top Rail Fence St. Paul! From the beginning quote, we knew we were going to be well taken care of. A rainy summer made for some delays getting started, but once work was underway, they had our beautiful new fence up within a couple of days. The guys installing the fence were so nice and friendly too! Working from home, I have the opportunity to let my dog out often and they were always accommodating to that, even giving out a couple belly scratches to the pup. We’ve received numerous compliments from the neighbors on how great the fence looks. Would absolutely recommend Top Rail Fence!
