Because we are confident in the skill of our installers, we provide the Top Rail Fence Limited Lifetime Workmanship Warranty* to the original property owner.
If there is a defect in how your fence was installed, we’ll make it right.
What’s covered?
While manufacturers cover the materials, Top Rail Fence covers the craftsmanship. Our Workmanship Warranty ensures your fence remains structural and functional.
Common covered items include:
Structural integrity: Fence leaning or shifting
Secure fastening: Loose pickets or detached sections
Functional gates: Adjustments for gate latches, hinges, and self-closing mechanisms
Foundation: Loose posts
How our pro-rated coverage works
We stand by our work for the long haul. Our "Lifetime" term for workmanship is defined as 10 years from the date of installation for as long as you own and occupy the home.
Year 1 (The "peace of mind" phase): 100% Coverage. Approved repairs are performed at no charge to you.
Years 2–10: Coverage is pro-rated based on the remaining months of the term. We provide a credit toward the labor portion of the repair, ensuring you only pay a fair, age-adjusted share.
Formula: (Remaining months in term ÷ total months in term) = your labor credit.
Understanding natural materials & maintenance
To keep your warranty valid and your fence looking its best, regular maintenance is required.
Wood is unique: As a natural product, wood may shrink, warp, crack, or twist over time. While these natural changes are not covered by the workmanship warranty, they can be minimized with proper staining and sealing.
Pro tip: For pressure-treated lumber, wait 2–5 months until the wood is dry enough to absorb water before applying your first coat of sealant.
General care: Damage from "Acts of God" (winds over 40mph, floods, falling trees), vandalism, or lack of maintenance is excluded.
Additional important details
Non-transferable: This warranty is a handshake between Top Rail and the original purchaser. The warranty terminates if the property is sold or no longer occupied by the owner.
Professional use: This warranty assumes normal use and proper maintenance. It does not apply to "dumpster fences" or repairs made to existing fences not installed by us.
Account standing: Warranty coverage is valid for accounts paid in full according to contract terms.
Need to file a claim?
We’ve made the process simple. If you notice an issue with your installation, follow these four steps:
Step 1: Snap photos - Take clear pictures of the specific issue.
Step 2: Gather details - If possible, have your installation year and fence model ready.
Step 4: Call - Call the customer support line 877-910-1523 and our team will provide you with our claim form to complete and submit.
Step 4: Review - Our team will review your claim and contact you to schedule a repair appointment or order parts if the claim is accepted.
